Cheryl Harper grew up in and outside of cities in upstate New York. As a child, she devoured biographies of famous people, particularly presidents, their wives, and other major figures from baseball players to social reformers to robber barons. She developed into both an artist and an art historian, missing one discipline when not active as the other. Harper holds a MFA in Printmaking from the the University of Delaware and an MA in Art History from Temple University. She practices mixed media sculpture and makes work on paper.

Harper’s work has been well received by critics in international shows to name a few: The James Oliver Gallery, The Print Center, Allentown Art Museum, Craftforms, and awards such the Fleisher Art Memorial Challenge and a first prize in sculpture at Art of the State.
