Matthew Szczepanowski
Through my entire life I have been painting and sculpting.
However, I discovered that sculpture and especially woodcarving are my
most profound
and fundamental passion.There is a certain primordial truth in shaping
a piece of log. It speaks back to you. it is about feeling about touch
and above all love.
I have always been interested in human beings, in their condition, how
they relate to one another. My sculptures are sensual. They
invite touch as some people discover. I like that because this
is what they are: physical, sensitive and very human.
I know that my sculptures
gather all of my artistic interests and desires. Creating human forms,
timeless lovers, sensual and physical, passionate and gentle and feeling
as we do.
