Statement:
I am a sculptor and a painter. I am competent in both mediums. Generally, my sculptures are abstract ceramic forms. Part of what I do is to explore, invent, and experiment with simple shapes using the cube, cylinder, or rectangle. The surfaces of the forms are generally finished with the conventional ceramic oxides or glazes.
I was always a purist working strictly in the confines of clay, glazes, oxides, etc. But during the pat few years, I have discovered new ways to finish sculptured forms with exciting textured materials such as lacquers, dyes, enamels hardware, glass, sand, etc. with predictable results.
