Interview with Taylor Pilote

Watch our video interview with one of the recipients of the P.S. We Love Our Members Grant, Taylor Pilote:

Originally from Fort Erie, ON, Canada, Taylor Pilote holds a BFA in Sculpture from the Lebel School of Visual Arts at the University of Windsor and an MFA in Sculpture and Extended Media from the University of South Florida. Exhibited internationally including the Canadian Sculptors Society in Toronto, MOCA North in Miami, FL, The Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY and the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL where he also presented for Tedx TampaBay. Relocating to Philadelphia in 2015, Pilote renovated a former beer distributor warehouse, founding Pilote Studios, an artist studio building, and project space in Fishtown.

When asked about his passions, Pilote says this:

"Aside from the newest addition, my son, who I am enamored with and am thankful for the opportunity to slow down and enjoy every day with, I am passionate about making. I am passionate about having a space to create and passionate about offering that opportunity to the cast of characters that call Pilote Studios their studio-home. Growing up in a lower-class blue-collar family split between two self-employed divorced parents afforded me the work ethic to strive to carve out the possibility of a creative career path. After completing my MFA, I moved to Philly chasing my wife's career. I have worked very hard to create a creative enclave and foster a great group of makers. It has been a labor of love and despite the trying times I am reassured by the fact that it has become an incubator for the entrepreneurial spirit that my tenants/colleagues show me every day."
