5 into 1: 25th Anniversary Exhibition
June 14 – August 29, 2025
Reception: Friday, June 13, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
The Galleries at Moore College of Art and Design
1916 Race Street, Philadelphia
PS is celebrating the 25th year of our annual 5 into 1 exhibition and we are marking the occasion with a special anniversary exhibition and reception. We have invited artists from past years’ exhibitions to join with the 2025 cohort for an exceptional show bringing together artists of different time periods and experiences. Moore College of Art and Design is again graciously hosting the exhibition, and the reception on Friday, June 13 from 5 – 7 pm. Paul Hubbard, one of the founders of the program, will be honored at the event.
For 25 years we have selected works of graduating sculpture students from five local art schools: Moore College of Art and Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art and Architecture, University of the Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania for inclusion in the annual exhibitions. This year’s show will include current graduates, as well as selected previous 5 into 1 participants who continue to practice as sculptors. We invited sculptors who live locally or within driving distance from Philadelphia, to join their younger colleagues in an expansive exhibition to showcase artists at different stages in their careers.
The anniversary show will take a different form from that of past years since 5 into 1 artists will now be exhibiting their works throughout all of Moore’s spacious galleries. One gallery will hold Moore's Biennial Alumni Invitational which this year will be dedicated to six artists who originally participated in 5 Into 1 at the time of their graduation. The other four schools will be represented in the remaining galleries which will combine the works of current graduating sculpture students selected by our curatorial committee and 5 into 1 participants from past years.
We were heartened to find that many of the students from earlier years that we had selected for 5 into 1 inclusion continue to identify as sculptors and artists. Many have become established and successful members of their art communities and we are honored that so many have agreed to share their works for this exhibition.
The sad and unexpected demise of UArts, and the loss of degree programs at PAFA, have brought us to a crossroads, and this will be the last year of the exhibition in its present form. Going forward, we will continue to support young sculptors from colleges across the entire Philadelphia region who will join us as we reimagine the future of the arts in a new landscape. Watch for details of our new and exciting plans!
