Attila Mata
BIO
Attila Mata is a Hungarian sculptor currently residing in Hungary. He holds an MFA from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. His works have been exhibited in numerous one man and group shows in museums and galleries around the world e.g. in the US, Germany, Austria, France, Finland, Russia, China and they can be found in a lot of public and private collections.
Mata’s energetic sculptures are inspired by ancient themes such as sexuality, death, love, and primal deities, and characterized by dynamism, power and striking spatial complexities. In his works the human body is reduced to geometric forms and reorganized as geometric structures. He sculpts in a vast array of materials including wood, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, and acrylic resin and he uses them in their natural and painted versions. He often combines two kinds of media on the same artwork. He enjoys experimenting with the visual effect of different materials and colors - paint - on the form. His goal as an artist is to make sculptures that can catch the viewers’ attention, and inspire thought, and he would like to invite viewers to take part in the creation of the artwork using their imagination.
