In alliance with Fall of Freedom’s call for creative resistance across the US, Philadelphia Sculptors proudly presents Re: Form, our local response to the national invitation. Re: Form asks: How is Freedom shaped? Asked to look at the struggles against repression and state violence surrounding us, artists answer the call as they also engage us with trenchant and timely questions.

Using both 2D and 3D media, the artists in the exhibition amplify the language of public protest by creating confrontational images, or present quieter and more private examples of bravery and rebellion. Some name the political outright; others let it surface quietly, only in what's missing, damaged, or rebuilt. What connects them isn't agreement, it's attention: each artist looked closely at how a policy, an institution, an inherited structure moves through our lives, leaving something changed. Re:Form doesn't resolve those differences — it holds them together, allowing the viewer to move between them to find their own point of recognition.

With the celebrations of America’s 250th birthday behind us, Philadelphia continues to stand at the center of a national conversation about democracy, identity, and the meaning of freedom itself. Celebrated as the birthplace of American democracy, Philadelphia is where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were drafted — documents that continue to shape both the promises and contradictions of the nation. But what did “freedom” mean to those who first declared independence, and what does it mean today? After 250 years, why are so many people still fighting for it? Who — or what — threatens it?

Re:Form responds to the unfinished realities of American democracy by giving artists a platform to participate in the collective groundswell as they command the power of the visual image.
